Double Header Dirt Riot 4×4 Endurance Racing at Baird Motorsports Park in Kentucky
Racing Saturday July 18th Starting at 9am
Baird Motorsports Offroad Park in Sturgis, KY
BLACKFOOT, ID JULY 15, 2014: Drivers are anxiously anticipating this weekends double-header points Dirt Riot race at the Baird Motorsports Park in Sturgis, Kentucky. Dirt Riot is an added bonus to this weekends Little Sturgis Bike Rally going on just 2 miles from the track at the local fairgrounds. As a double header, Dirt Riot season points can count towards the Midstates and Southeast series championships making this the final and pivotal race in both series. Racing starts at 9am and will go until at least 3pm with awards immediately following. “The course that has been designed for this years Dirt Riot includes a lot of additional features from last years. The track is in perfect condition for horsepower and speed,” said Rich Klein, President and founder of W.E. Rock Events. “We are excited to be back at Bill Bairds facility. His commitment to making this one of the best off-road parks in the area is sincere and noticeable.”
The racecourse is 2 miles with a traditional short course section that includes big jumps, whoops, wide high banked turns and sweeping off camber switchbacks. Added for this years race is a tree filled forest section that is fairly tight and twisty, which also features a big drop into a stream crossing with two lanes. The climb out of the stream will be a challenge for some of the classes. After the forest section, it is back onto the short course, with a high speed straight that leads the drivers to the rock section. While not super difficult, the rocks will provide thrills as the teams try to pass in this area. From the rocks there is another new section that sweeps downhill with an off camber hairpin then into an uphill whoop section. The last is a sweeper turn into the hot pit straight away and back to the start finish line.
Racing for the Pro 4400 class will be done in a multiple heat style format, allowing teams to repair or make adjustments to the cars between heats. A unique points system based on finishing position in each heat will determine an overall leader in each class, different from the usual Dirt Riot endurance racing. The UTV and Sportsman, 4500 and 4600 classes will both have a one hour race.
Drivers that are pre-registered to race at this event include Pro 4400 4×4 drivers Bad Advice Racing Matt Moore, Rowdy Racing Rowdy Trubenbach and Jason Shipman. RidinDirty Offroad Racing Jason Dehn and Wilson Off-Road Emma Wilson are preregistered in the Modified Trail Class, with Team SCR Texas Cody StClair ready to race in the SuperMod Trail Class. Currently there is one Pro UTV Advantage Racing Whimpy Lawson. Many more are scheduled to attend, and you are also welcome to join. With only some simple safety requirements, anyone is welcome to come and race!
